Use those patterns for better training decisions and blind searches
About the webinar
Did you know that your dog seeks out odor and problem solves using a specific set of patterns? These patterns are partially genetic and partially learned from doing what has worked in the past. When we sensitize ourselves to HOW our dog searches, we make better training decisions and are more successful in blind situations and in competition. We cover approaches to learning the patterns your dog shows. HOW do you recognize your dog's personal patterns? We also watch video examples of common "styles" and problem-solving patterns dogs use. Some common patterns we cover: Using vertical surfaces to gather information away from the hide Working in to the hide briefly, then working out to the edge of the scent cone to work back in and source Clearing areas low first before investigating up Working the perimeter first Wanting to work the search area from back to front And many more! Includes a downloadable handout with a summary, checklist, training log and more, so you can spot and record your own dog's search patterns over time.
